In this scary, sometimes sad world, this month the writing community celebrates an inspiring act of sisterhood and generosity (and it makes me cry happy tears every time I think about it).
I’m in in awe of these two amazing women. Pamela Stockwell and Kelly Hartog.
They met through the online Zoom writing dates held by Women’s Fiction Writers Association.
They’ve never met in real life (at least not yet), but when Kelly needed a kidney to continue gifting us with her wonderful self, Pamela stepped up.
A Very Special Vigil
March 29th was a special day when writers of women’s fiction held an online vigil of sorts, staying together online and lighting candles as Pamela’s kidney was removed and flown across the US from East to West coast where it was transplanted, giving new life to Kelly.
How can SHOW YOUR SUPPORT?
Read more about Kelly’s story here - she has a GoFundMe campaign to cover some of her costs.
We can also show our support by joining, supporting one of the kidney organizations like the National Kidney Foundation.
You can read Pamela’s novel, A Boundless Place.
Set against the backdrop of the 1969 moon landing when astronauts broke the boundaries of Earth, A Boundless Place shows what happens when people are able to break their own boundaries and reach out to others.
