Author2Author Podcast: Lainey chats with Bill Kenower

I felt honored to be invited to chat with Bill Kenower on the Author2Author podcast, sponsored by Author Magazine and the Pacific Northwest Writers Association.

Bill and I chat about the question of whether writing is in your blood and is some thing that I have wanted to do ever since being a child ? (The answer is perhaps surprisingly no! Although I’ve always been a voracious reader and if you’d asked me a decade plus ago I dreamed of writing romance!).

We also cover my most useless life skill, how I originally ended up in Silicon Valley, what was my job really? Also the use of military language in tech, meetings at strip clubs and lose-lose situation of how to respond as a woman.

Also why do companies with women on their boards and female CEOs get better business results? I have a theory. Plus why the stereotypes of women in business just drive my crazy. And why Hubby and I became digital nomads.

Reading wise I give a short plug for Ehsaneh Sadr’s A DOOR BETWEEN US, and how books like this engender empathy.

Bill Kenower is an author himself - his guide FEARLESS WRITING is packed with wisdom and practical advice and his newest book EVERYONE HAS WHAT IT TAKES, releasing on June 1, is a guide to dealing with comparison, self-doubt, isolation and other struggles. I’m looking forward to reading this one!
